"This is in reference to the recent amendment in Maternity Benefits Act and w.r.t. to the manpower deployed in ICT project teams.
The changes & the provisions
below are effective from April 01, 2017:
ELIGIBILITY: A Female Employee becomes eligible to avail of the
Maternity Benefit under ESIC if she has served at least 70 days in the last 12
months.
BENEFIT: Almost 100% of the average Daily Wages is paid for:
(a) Up to 26 week for two surviving
children and 12 weeks for more than two children
(b) 12 weeks maternity benefits to a commissioning mother and adopting mother
*In case of applicability under ESIC, the employee should avail these benefit from ESIC

**In case of non-applicability under
ESIC, the wages shall be paid by IETS for the period as mentioned above.
Know-How: The process to be followed for employees covered under
ESIC is as under:
1. The pregnant woman is required to
visit ESI Dispensary for medical treatment and she is required to get the
following certificates from ESI Doctor from time to time:
· Medical Certificate of Pregnancy
· Medical Certificate of Expected
Delivery
· Medical Certificate of Fitness
·
2. The
above certificate are required to be deposited in Branch office ESI for getting
case benefit."
